New Law - Passing a bicycle in Ohio

Good news for Ohio bicyclists. The Ohio General Assembly approved House Bill 154 which requires motorists give a three-foot cushion when passing a bicycle in Ohio. Ohio joined the 27 other States in the District of Columbia that have a mandatory minimum of three feet of separation between motor vehicles and bicycles in passing. In Ohio there are about 1,500 bicycle-motorist accidents annually. Hopefully this new law will protect vulnerable bicyclists and reduce crashes. Ohio Revised Code §4511.27.
